I left Bogo Sunday morning to go to the wharf where I would catch my ferry. I arrived there around 10 AM so that I could catch the 11 AM ferry. But when they said 11 AM they really meant 1 PM, so I sat in the shade, drinking a couple sodas and talking with some of the guys that worked at the wharf.

When I start talking to the locals this is usually how a conversation goes:

I left my room in Toledo around 10 am Saturday morning. I woke up around 7 and had a somewhat lazy morning. The place I stayed in, Toledo Traveler’s Inn, was pretty nice, albeit a little pricy at 800 php. Here are a couple shots of my room and outside the hotel.

On The Road! Carcar to Toledo

Today (Friday) I took it easy in the morning; I typed up a blog post and a few emails, read some scriptures and wrote in my journal, did Ab Ripper X and packed up my things. After all that I headed to a welder (Ling Ling’s in Carcar) to get a rack made for the back of my bike. It cost about 10 USD equivalent (materials, labor, and the tip I gave Boding) and it works pretty well. I didn’t get a clear shot of the finished piece, I’ll probably have one up later, but here’s a couple pictures of the work in progress.

Finally, things are starting to get off the ground. On Tuesday of this week I finally checked out of the Diplomat hotel. I returned the scooter back to Paul W and hopped on a couple jeepneys to get to the south bus terminal. Hauling my bag around was a huge pain. I rode a mini-bus down about 40 km to Carcar city, where I met up with Paul P., who offered to rent me his XR200 for a bargain. He needed to have a new chain put on it and have it serviced so I roomed up at the Traveler’s Inn in Carcar. A decent aircon room was 500php. It took the whole next day to get the bike taken care of so I stayed another night. Here’s the bike:
